THE BURIED LIFE: 20 Things I Should Have Known at 20.

theburiedlife:

1. The world is trying to keep you stupid. From bank fees to interest rates to miracle diets, people who are not educated are easier to get money from and easier to lead. Educate yourself as much as possible for wealth, independence, and happiness.

2. Do not have faith in institutions to…

I can breathe…

My internship was approved by the OLS Advisory Board and it counts towards my experiential requirement! Huge weight lifted off of my shoulders. I started yesterday and will be interning with Bauer until August 10th. Bauer is a Family Resources Company that strengthens families so they can build better lives for themselves. They help families with programs like Head Start and Bauer Community Center. It’s only day 2 and I absolutely love it. There’s so much to learn about HR and all of its divisions. I already know that switching to Human Resources was such a better career move and I feel like I’ve finally found my calling in the Human Resources field!

3 simple words is all it takes. I love you.
Happy 1 year. (and a day cause I failed at posting this on time.)

bookmania:

“The Lovely Bones” by Alice Sebold. The Lovely Bones is a luminous and astonishing novel about life and death, forgiveness and vengeance, memory and forgetting–but, above all, about finding light in the darkest of places.

P.S. I’m beginning to tweet (live) quotes fresh from this critically acclaimed international bestseller @thebookmania. I’ve been attempting to pick up some relevant quotes to be presented on Book Mania’s Twitter feed. I believe that everyone deserves to preview/reminiscence on some of the world’s masterpieces with the help of the modern media, one of which is Twitter. Cheers, Archie.

Another Post about How Crappy Mondays are.

I hate Mondays.

They always suck.

But, there has been some good news from this bad day.

-it’s now Tuesday

-one day left of being a teen

-no cavities from the dentist

-4 days till the weekend

My brain is too overloaded with healthcare reforms, monetary policy, and the ten commandments of implementing changes to think of more clever things to say. Time for sleep..

Thankful to have spent 8 days in beautiful Arizona. I’ve never had the opportunity to go out West, so it was awesome finally getting to. We traveled to Tuscon, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Old Scottsdale, and Jerome. I was able to see some of my family as well as meet Chris’s. It was a much needed break from school and work and I wish we could have stayed longer. Still a great vacation and super excited that I spent it all with this guy!

The Past, The Present, The Future.

I read an interesting book tonight called The Present. Basically, it tells you how you need to learn from your mistakes and experiences of the Past so that you can improve upon The Present. While you’re in the Present, you should be happy with the career path you choose and with those around you. Being happy in this stage will cause you to be less anxious for the Future.

I found this extremely relevant to what I’ve been going through. This semester has been chaotic to say the least, but I realize that I have to let go of the Past school mistakes I’ve made (cramming the night before, not bothering to buy books, etc.) and to improve upon them. I can admit that my major is not the hardest (I’m learning how to organize, lead, and supervise people for goodness sakes) but it still comes with its own time consuming tasks. I’m going to improve upon my Past mistakes so I can enjoy the Present and stop being so anxious about my Future.

Did You Know?

There’s 1 billion people around the world with unsafe drinking water.

A child dies every 15 seconds due to unsafe water.

It takes only $20 to give someone clean water for the rest of their life.

It’s only my second semester being apart of Thirst Project and I can already see an impact that Purdue’s Chapter has made. Thirst Project is a non-profit organization aimed at combating the world water crisis. You can search the history books all you want to; you won’t find this issue in them. What I love about Thirst Project is knowing that the money that you donate goes directly to building a well. It takes $5,000 to build a freshwater well. You receive pictures about the town and the people whose lives you are changing. Last semester we were blessed in raising over $6,000 and our well is in the process of being built! Talk about making a difference in someone’s life! :)

My main goal of this post is to talk about Purdue’s next big project. We’re having a 5k run/walk on March 25th. The cost is only $20 and this goes directly to helping us build a well. If you’re not a runner or walker and would love to donate to this cause, please visit: crowdrise.com/5kfor5k

Even if you aren’t interested in donating, please check out thirstproject.org to get more information on this amazing organization.

Give Water, Give Life.
